Research and statistics show that reading rates in our country remain quite low. For example, according to data shared by YAYFED (The Federation of Publishers' Associations) in 2023, the majority of “youth book sales” consisted of textbooks and test preparation books. In comparison, the share of literary works purchased within this age group was significantly lower. A quick calculation suggests that the average number of literary books purchased per student is around three — and it would not be inaccurate to assume that the rate at which these books are actually read is even lower. We created our Literature Platform with the goal of increasing reading engagement and interest in literature nationwide. Through the analyses we provide of selected works from Turkish literature, we aim to help high school and university students explore how to approach a literary text and how to conduct literary analysis, in a comprehensive and visually engaging way suited to their level. Our platform includes analyses of 60 different books and explanations of 53 key literary concepts frequently encountered in the field of literary criticism. It also features biographies of 27 prominent Turkish authors, offering students a broader perspective when studying these works. One of the most distinctive aspects of our platform is its collection of 20 curated literature lists—guides designed for students who wish to learn more about a specific work or author they love, or who want to discover where to begin in developing their literary knowledge and appreciation. This online platform continues to grow as a free learning resource, widely used by students.
