Why Vakıf k12
Valuable Stakeholders ,
The increasing population, decreasing resources, and a young population struggling to access opportunities for self-development bring greater challenges to our country each year. Despite the rapidly changing learning experience in the 21st century, the existing infrastructure of schools is struggling to meet this demand and will continue to do so. As a Foundation, we have begun to develop projects to find solutions to the issues faced by our education system in light of the realities and demands of the 21st century. We have seen that by effectively utilizing new communication and educational tools that can reach large audiences, opportunities for cross-border sharing and collaboration, and the expanding pool of knowledge and experience, we can address many of these problems. Our goal has been set to promote the 'Learner' profile and 'Learning Culture' of the 21st century among all education stakeholders through our work, production, and sharing. As Vakıf k12, which we established in 2014, we have completed our first 10 years of operation. The past period taught us a lot, first and foremost, how right we are on our path! Producing content, utilizing changing software and technologies, and continuously updating what we create have sometimes challenged us both in terms of technical workforce and costs. Nevertheless, it has been a source of pride for us at Vakıf k12 to actively produce three learning platforms, to launch and distribute the Okuma Ağacı (Reading Tree) series, which has the highest number of books in Turkey, and to be entrusted with the schools of Turkey’s two largest foundations, Darüşşafaka and Türk Eğitim Vakfı (Turkish Education Foundation) all of which are significant achievements that demonstrate what this young foundation can accomplish in the future. We aim to complete the projects that Vakıf k12 started in 2015 within this year. Additionally, we have prepared a three-year strategic plan for all the projects we carry out within our mission, vision, and values. On one hand, we aim to complete existing projects as soon as possible to contribute to the learning ecosystem, while on the other hand, we also aim to incorporate new problems and challenges into the foundation's work program. In this context, we are excited to present Vakıf k12's new goals within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals to the public in the first quarter of 2025. With our faith, goodwill, desire, and persistence that nourish our hope, we continue our efforts to produce sustainable solutions. We would like to thank all the individuals and institutions that have supported our work since the establishment of Vakıf k12.Kerim Gürçay
